It’s no secret that people love Twitter; around 500 million tweets are posted a day. The platform is a great way to connect with people and captures a broad range of audiences. Everyone from Barack Obama, J.K. Rowling, and Kim Kardashian to your average Joe uses Twitter. As a brand, you should optimize your Twitter account to reach as many people as you can. But how to get Twitter feed on Google search?

You need to be easily findable. You can do this by using hashtags, optimizing your profile, tweeting frequently, and also making your Twitter appear as a Google search result.

Having your Twitter appear as a search result when people type your name or business into Google will help more people learn about your Twitter. It makes you much more searchable and therefore widens your audience.  Here’s what a Twitter profile as a search result looks like:

Optimize Twitter Account for SEO

Having your Twitter optimized for SEO is the first step to take. This will help you reach the right audience on Twitter as well as be easily indexed on Google and rank higher. There are only a few simple things to do that will optimize your account.

Match Your Username to Your Brand Name

The first step is to make sure that your brand name and Twitter username match. Not only will this help people find you on Twitter and connect your profile to your brand, but it will help increase the possibility of your Twitter appearing as a search result. If we look at the image above of Patagonia’s Twitter, we can see their username matches their brand name. When people search for their brand, the keyword “Patagonia” matches the keyword for their Twitter handle. If their Twitter handle was something different than their brand name, the keyword for Twitter would not be the same as their brand, so when people search “Patagonia,” their Twitter would not appear.

Use Keywords in Your Bio And Tweets

Keywords are the key to SEO. When people search for a word or phrase, if your page has that keyword in it, your page will show up as a result. This goes for more than just websites, it’s the same for Twitter. Not only will this help your tweets reach more people on Twitter, but those keywords will be incorporated into Google’s search engine. If your bio says you are a B Corp-certified digital marketing agency and you tweet about that as well,  when people search for things about B Corp digital marketing agencies, your tweets match those keywords and could be a search result.

Add Location in Your Bio And Tweets

Like anything SEO, location helps you become searchable. This means that you want to include your location in your tweets and bio. Colibri Digital Marketing is based in San Francisco, so we like to include that in our bio as well as tweet about San Francisco-related things, such as news or events. Here’s what that looks like:

Linking your website to your profile makes your Twitter account more credible and also helps Google connect your Twitter to your website. When people search for your website and your Twitter handle has that same keyword and link, it will have a higher chance of appearing as a search result. In general, including a link in your profile on any social media channel is important because it is a great call to action.

Use Carousels

Tweet carousels are a string of tweets linked together in a swipeable form. Instead of scrolling down to see tweets, a Twitter carousel allows you to swipe left on a tweet and see more tweets from that brand. They look great in Google results because they take up a lot of room and are attention-grabbing. Here’s what it looks like:

On Twitter, this will appear as a Tweet that you can swipe left on to see more. If that doesn’t make sense, check out this video by Twitter to see what it looks like in action.

If you were to click on the link and view those three tweets by Pepsi on Twitter, they would not appear as a carousel. Carousels are a form of ads, so you have to pay.

You can get your tweets to appear like a carousel as a  Google search result without paying. Here’s what to do:

  • Tweet frequently
  • Increase your following so you have a few hundred followers
  • Engage with your audience
  • Use hashtags
  • Engage with other Twitter accounts

These tips will increase the likelihood of your tweets appearing as a Google search result in the form of a carousel.

Make Sure your Tweets are Public

The automatic setting on Twitter is to have your tweets be public, meaning people who are not your followers can view your tweets. But you have the option to make your tweets private, meaning only people who follow can view your tweets. If your tweets are private, they will not show up on Google, so make sure they’re public.

Twitter is a great platform for brands. By incorporating SEO into your Twitter, you have the ability to reach more people, grow, and build brand awareness and recognition. These tips are easy to implement and will lead to results. Remember to use keywords and make sure your tweets are public. Good luck!
