In the Bay Area’s vibrant fitness scene, our client stands out with a unique private gym experience that caters to individuals and trainers alike. With fully equipped workout spaces, they eliminate the need for sharing equipment, making each workout personal and focused. To promote this exceptional offering, we developed a friendly, engaging gym advertisement strategy to drive membership sales. This case study highlights our journey to boost their visibility and connect with fitness enthusiasts who crave a more exclusive workout environment.
Â
Opportunity
This client operates in a highly demanding and competitive industry in the Bay Area. Their key differentiator, private spots or pods, as they call them, shows promise of gaining market share and boosting sales over time.
Â
ObjectiveÂ
This client’s goal was to increase membership sales through targeted gym advertisement to individuals and trainers interested in using their facilities for workouts, highlighting their unique value proposition.
Â
Challenges
The client was not tracking conversions or leads, and the software used to register online purchases (Mindbody) was not fully compatible with Google Analytics. After installing the GA4 pixel on the Mindbody checkout process, we were able to track page views. Still, since the purchase occurred on another domain, a different user ID was assigned to the same user when they landed on Mindbody, starting a new session and attributing conversions on GA4 to direct sources, thereby eliminating the first touch on the website.

How Colibri Responded
- Advertising Audit: We analyzed benchmarks and competitors to project potential results of our advertising campaigns.
- Advertising Strategy: In this phase, we developed advertising content, identified relevant keywords and target audiences, and established the advertising structure for launching our campaigns. We implemented a strategy using Google Ads and Meta Ads to promote their services.Â
- Analytics Audit: We identified and addressed gaps in monitoring and accurately attributing data in Google Analytics and other advertising platforms, thereby improving our advertising effectiveness. Additionally, we developed solutions to integrate and attribute MindBody checkouts within our tracking system, enabling accurate conversion tracking and improving the performance of our advertising algorithms.
- SEO & CRO Optimizations: Colibri performed an SEO and CRO audit to identify pain points and opportunities for improvement on their website. Based on the findings and recommendations, we implemented proposed changes, including design updates and back-end fixes, to enhance both search visibility and user experience.
Â
Results
After testing various software for accurate counting and conversion attribution, such as Zapier, we developed a simple yet effective system to attribute conversions. By installing the Google Tag Manager pixel on Mindbody checkout pages, we created a redirect tag that immediately redirects users from the final checkout page to a thank-you page on the original website, enabling GA4 to accurately identify the user’s first touchpoint and properly attribute conversions. Finally, to make tracking as simple as possible, we also created a custom event for ty page landers to ease report reading.
The quantitative analysis of the campaign is presented below, including year-to-date numbers. Secondary actions are engaging website activities that may lead to a conversion, typically strategic clicks and planned lead forms.
| Â | Impressions | Clicks | Website Sessions | Conversions | Secondary Actions |
Total | +1M | 20K | 20K | 26 | 1K |
As a secondary effect of our advertising efforts, we significantly enhanced clients’ visibility, fostering a more active social media community and attracting new visitors to their facilities. Website traffic grew by 163% annually. Most importantly, they achieved a 5.3x ROA
